Allevi (formerly BioBots) has built a desktop 3D printer that builds 3D living tissues out of human cells. The printer uses visible blue light to cure biomaterials rapidly without damaging cells and uses linear rails that guarantee 10 micron precision on each axis. The Allevi printer's simple design and operation coupled with its ability to work with complex cell types lends itself to a wide range of end users from high school biology teachers to leading regenerative medicine researchers.
